Swanton Morley VC Primary School is a ‘healthy school’. All food provided by the school is carefully chosen to be nutritious, healthy and contain the right amount of energy (calories) that different children need during the school day. Where food is brought into school, such as in packed lunches, parents are actively encouraged to follow same model of healthy eating. We are also a ‘nut free’ school.
The school’s kitchen, operated by NORSE, provides hot meals at lunchtime which are free for Reception and Key Stage 1 children. Meals cost £2.58 per day for those in Key Stage 2. There are several options which include a main dish of the day, jacket potatoes (with various fillings), freshly made packed lunches and a daily vegetarian dish. School lunches should be pre-ordered on a Monday for the week ahead.
Special diets can be catered for by prior arrangement once a Special Diet Registration Form has been completed and returned to our caterers.
Copies of the current lunch menu along with allergen information is available to view or print from the NORSE web site.
Pupils in Years 3-6 can bring a piece of fresh fruit into school for their morning snack. There are usually hot and cold options including fresh fruit and vegetables. Alternatively these older children can bring in a healthy snack from home to consume at break.
If your child is having a home packed lunch it must not contain any nut products such as nutella or peanut butter as we are nut free school. Sweets and fizzy drinks are also not permitted in home packed lunches. Water bottles to have in class must only contain water.
All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are provided with free portions of fruit every day at break and therefore do not need to bring money or a snack from home.
